Well, the "Best Anime Couple" Poll Contest has come to a close and in order from 8th to 2nd:

8th: Nana x Ren (NANA)
7th: Lafiel and Jinto (Crest of the Stars and Banner of the Stars I/II/III)
6th: Horo x Lawrence Craft (Spice & Wolf)
5th: Kaoru Hanabishi x Sakuraba Aoi (Ai Yori Aoshi)
4th: Kenshin x Tomoe (Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal)
3rd: Himura Kenshin x Kamiya Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin)
2nd: Tohno Shiki x Arcueid Brunestud (Shigetsutan Tsukihime)

It was a really tough set of matches, with the finals being decided by a single vote, but in the end, there could only be one left standing, and that winner is: (Drumroll please...)

1st: Noda "Nodame" Megumi x Chiaki Shinnichi (Nodame Cantabile)

Congratulations to Nodame and Chiaki on their hard earned victory over Shiki and Brunestud. Once again, none of this would have been possible without Veleon, who had this idea from the beginning and followed it through till its end. You were the architect of this, and I can't thank you enough for the time and effort you put in to this.
Finally, big thank you to all of you who voted in the polls. It was fun, and we hope you look forward to the next one!

Veleon, organizer of the Anime Couples Contest has another update:

"Round one has officially finished. All the competitors that you will see have been shown. The chumps have been eliminated and from now on the choices only get tougher. Take a look at the main thread in the contest forum which should answer many of the questions you may have. Be sure to also cast your vote for your favorite anime couple. A good portion of these matches have only been won by a few votes, so your opinion (and vote) does make a huge difference in this competition. Discussion and pictures (as long as they follow forum rules) are highly encouraged. Plus, you'll get to meet all those crazy people who hang out on the forums and see why it's a great place to hang out on."

Here's a link to the contest forum, as well as a link to the main thread.

Veleon, organizer for our latest voting contest for Favorite Anime Couple, wanted to give all of you a status update:

"Round one has officially hit its halfway point! So far there have been quite a few couples who show some promise.

Moonlight Lovers, Garbage Collectors Space Edition, Team Yakitate, and Heaven & Hell are among the winners. If you have no idea who I'm talking about take a look here for the main thread which should answer that question along with any others. Be sure to also stop by the contest itself and cast your vote for your favorite anime couple! Discussion is highly encouraged, and if you'd like to post pictures of your favorite couple, feel free to (as long as they follow forum rules).

I hope to see you all exercising your right to vote!"

Hi everyone, I'm bringing this announcement on behalf of Veleon, the organizer of our latest contest who has a few words about it:

"Welcome to the Anime Couples Contest! The prelims have just been finished and the actual single elimination tournament has just started. Be sure to head on the to AnimeNfo forums and vote for your favorite couple. Whether you vote based on character, or the relationship they had, or the anime they're in, or whether the character name starts with a vowel or not, it doesn't really matter. Just come and vote. Be sure to discuss the couples in each match. Pictures are always encouraged. You can find all the basic information about the contest here.

You can also find all the matches in their sub forum."

Like Veleon said, please feel free to vote in the forums for your favourite couple. Remember, in order to place your vote you'll have to login into the forums or register a new login.

Hi everyone! It's been a while since our last poll contest started up, but with the new year rolling in, it's also brought us another one for your voting pleasure. The theme for this one is "Favourite Anime Couple". The nominations have already been put up, and the first preliminary matches are on their way. You can check out which couples have been selected and make your votes in this forum.

Also, LoStSouLs, one of the staff forwarded this link to me, suggesting I put it up and I agreed. It's a list of anime titles to be released in japan the last month of 2008 and the first two months of 2009. Though a bit late, since there's only a month remaining on the list, it provides a good reminder of shows that have been released and you might have forgotten about. Here's the link for your viewing pleasure. Credit to the people who took the time to make this, and not us.

The "Anime Guys Battle" has officially come to its end, and after all the dust has settled, the winner is Spike Spiegel of Cowboy Bebop!

It was quite the nail-biter, but in the end Spike managed to pull away at the last moment to beat Roy Mustang by a vote count of 23-20.

So, the final rankings are:

1.)Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)
2.)Roy Mustang (Full Metal Alchemist)
3.)Himura Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin)
4.)Lt. Col. Hughes (Full Metal Alchemist)
5.)Sagra Sousuke (Full Metal Panic!)
6.)Vash (Trigun)
7.)Onizuka Eikichi (Great Teacher Onizuka)
8.)Yagami Light (Death Note)

There you have it, the top 8! I'd just like to take this moment to thank everyone who came to place their votes in the contest. Without your participation, it wouldn't have been a resounding success that it was. I'd also like to take a moment to thank the organizer of the Anime Guys Battle, Veleon. It was his idea from the beginning to hold this contest, and he organized all the matches from start to end and made sure everything was done right, and to top it off, managed to keep things going at fairly good pace, and rarely did things get delayed.

So there you have it, one contest down and hopefully another contest on the horizon. Thank you again for participating in a fun contest for everyone here at AnimeNfo!

Alright, Folks! This time, winner take all! After the dust settled from the Semi's which saw a bigger voter turn out than most of us thought, we're now down to our final two!

FINAL ROUND:

Roy Mustang (Full Metal Alchemist)
VS.
Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)

There you have it, the final match is all set, and the votes are already starting to come in, if you want to place your vote, head on over to the "Anime Guys Battle" contest forum and place your vote for who you think is the best!

Also note that for ranking purposes we're also running the remaining 'consolation' brackets for final positions in the top 8! You can still vote and see if your favorite character that didn't make it into the finals can still get a decent position!

UPDATE 23/4: Since it is the final round for this contest, I decided to open up the voting so that even users who don't login can still place a vote. You'll still have to login in order to make a post, but in order to allow those users who don't want to bother to register just to vote, now you'll be able to.

Update #2: Ok that turned out to be a bad plan. It looks like unfortunately, that you'll have to vote only after registering. Sorry about that.
